NYSBA Renews GEC Contract with M&M

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY | Modjeski and Masters, Inc. (M&M) has been selected for the New York State Bridge Authority’s (NYSBA) General Consulting and Inspection Services contract. M&M will perform bridge maintenance inspections and related work for the bridges under the jurisdiction of NYSBA for three years with an option to renew for three additional years.

M&M, who has been working with the NYSBA for more than 50 years, will be responsible for preparing inspection reports, advising on engineering matters and providing engineering services on structures including river crossings, overpass bridges, and pedestrian walkways.

“We are very pleased with this opportunity to continue our partnership with the NYSBA,” said Dr. Barney Martin, President and CEO of M&M. “With more than 50 years of experience working together, our personnel have a deep understanding of the work, facilities, and needs of the Authority, which allows us to hit the ground running without any learning curve.”

M&M began their work with the New York State Department of Public Works, which preceded the NYSBA, in 1923 when Ralph Modjeski was commissioned to design the Mid-Hudson Bridge, which was completed in 1930. In 1977, M&M opened an office in Poughkeepsie to meet the engineering needs of the Authority. Since then, the Poughkeepsie office has continuously performed engineering projects of all types for the Authority.

“The partnership with the NYSBA shows why we are considered one of the world’s leading bridge engineering firms,” said Mr. Michael Britt, senior vice president and director of business development of M&M. “Our founder Ralph Modjeski started this partnership more than 90 years ago. Seeing how it has continuously progressed since then is a testament to his vision. We are all pleased to see it continuing for the foreseeable future.”
