We are thrilled to announce our “Masters of the Trade” scholarship winner, Mohammad Waheb. Mohammad has over nine years of experience as Civil/Structural draftsman and is currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University.
The “Masters of the Trade” scholarship recognizes excellence in engineering with a monetary award and a career development opportunity for one undergraduate student who displays exceptional promise in their study.
From Afghanistan, Mohammad has always been a dedicated, driven, self-starter. He was one of 95 out of 7,400 accepted students at the extremely competitive International Ariana Afghan-Turkish High School. After winning an elite STEM competition, Mohammad finished his high school years with a keen ability to translate abstract ideas into physical reality that helped guide him towards the engineering profession.
After passing Afghanistan’s nationwide public colleges’ entrance examination, Mohammad was placed in the top 60 candidates among 200,000 students and began his journey at the College of Engineering at Kabul Polytechnic University.
In 2019, Mohammad and his family immigrated to the U.S. where he enrolled at
Houston Community College (HCC) to pursue his longtime dream of becoming a civil engineer all while working the night shift to support his family. He is currently enrolled at Texas A&M pursuing his Bachelors in Civil Engineering where he hopes to complete the FE and PE exams and work towards his goal of becoming a structural engineer.
Congrats, Mohammad. We're so glad your path led you here.
